Vintage

You know, I used to be obsessed with modern. Modern as in clean lines, stainless steel, European Design.

However, lately, I find myself more and more attracted to flowers, frilly stuff, old time country design, shabby chic, etc. Maybe, it has to do with having girls now, or with the fact that all that modern stuff is not really affordable for us anymore.

Anyway, I have been thrifting a lot lately and am finding myself now with quite the collection of vintage fabrics and linens.
Don't these colors just scream summer?!
I see a lot of patchwork and summer dresses for the girls (for next year, of course....) in the near future. And wouldn't it be fun to make an entire quilt out of vintage linens?!

Or look at this one: Definetly a pair of late summer/early fall jammies for the girls. Just like these ones, but with long sleeves and long pants.

But, this has to wait. First I will work on a couple of projects for Yanic: Travel pillow for his upcoming Hockey Tournement in Canada (! Yeah !) and a back to school lunch box/bag.

I have another fabulous project that is almost finished. I will share that after the weekend. Until then, enjoy the sun!

The Hockeyplayer's Bed

Some of you may remember how excited I was about making and giving one particular gift this past Christmas: New Bedsheets for my son. He is and has been a Hockey Fan and Player basically since he could walk. Even one of his first words was "ockee". His entire room is decorated with pucks and hockey posters and paraphenalia. All that was missing was the right bedding.

I bought a couple of different cotton fabrics with hockey player and equipment prints and a University of Michigan Flannel. Out of those I made pillow covers and a comforter cover.

In our house Santa brings the gifts on Christmas Eve. While John and Yanic where at church that afternoon I changed Yanic's bed. So, he did not find the covers under the Christmas tree, but had an added surprise by the time he had to go to bed. He was majorly EXCITED!!! A job well done, Santa!

Jiri Fischer

Yanic's Victory Honda Mini Mite Team played a game against a Toledo Mite Team Sunday evening. They did a really good job again, but were not able to beat this older Team.

But, it was a great event none the less: Jiri Fischer former player of the Detroit Redwings (He has not played since he suffered cardiac arrest during a game in 2005. He is now Director of Player Development for the Redwings) was watching the game. He even took the time to talk to John afterwards for quite a while and share some insight tricks. And at the end he was nice enough to take a picture with the Chipmunk Line. Everybody was very excited.

Victory Honda - Unfortunately not so victorious

I went down to Ohio with Anika and Kordula this morning to meet Yanic and John at the Hockey Tournement. The drive was easier and quicker then I expected. I was there in less then 90 minutes. Yanic and his buddies had already finished breakfast and were running up and down the stairs at the hotel (6 stories, 4 times...). Shortly after we went and watched them play against Sylvania. The boys were skating their hearts out. Unfortunately, some of their players were intimidated by the 1-2 heads taller players in the other team and therefore not as agressive as they needed to be. (Not so Yanic...) The game ended with a score of 3:7.
There will be one more game tonight. But, there are no chances for the Championship Game.
GO VICTORY HONDA!!!

GO VICTORY HONDA!!!

Victory Honda Action Shots

One of the Hockey Moms from Yanic's Team has been taking pictures during most of the games this season. Take a look at the slide show for some of the action shots from the game they had on September 29th. These are only pictures with Yanic in them (#13, white/blue camo tape on the blade of his stick).

Winter has us (I think)

After still having late summer weather last week, winter is sure here now. Cold, cold, cold.

Anika, Kordula and I were making cookies yesterday afternoon. While Yanic and John were at one of his Hockey games (they won both games this weekend). Yanic had two goals yesterday. As a treat for playing so well, he is allowed to purchase one hot lunch at school this week. Usually, I pack his lunch (less junk that way...).

Also, what started as some Nikolaus-presents for the kids went out of hand.... I started making Wichtel for the three of them, but couldn't stop!!! So, hop on over to my store. There will be more coming. Five more are already pre-cut ;-)

Have a warm week, everybody.

The Chipmunk Line

The Victory Honda AAA Mini-Mite Team had one of their first games in a while this past weekend. They played a local Mite A Team at the Whalers Arena in Plymouth. THEY WON 4:2. Yanic had some great passes and breakaways. He played defense this time. Here is a picture of the Chipmunk Line from left to right: Josh, Yanic, Jake.

Dancing Queens and Hockey Night in Canada

This is so cute and funny. When I was in Mexico and Yanic at Soccer practice with Coach Matt, John had "Hockey Night in Canada" on TV. Watch Anika and Kordula....
